Only a few steps away from our meeting point is the City Palace of Prince Eugene!

Rauhensteingasse, Ballgasse

Here, where the old walls and winding streets tell stories, we follow the traces of a bygone era. In the Middle Ages, there were only a few isolated houses here and the area was still outside the city walls.
Info
This mystical area was the right place for an executioner's house - and in the immediate vicinity of Himmelpfort Monastery! Logically, all kinds of people were attracted to it and settled there!

Blutgasse, House of the Teutonic Order
Past the baroque Franciscan Church, we walk to the Mozart House and on through the Blutgasse. The house of the teutonic order presents itself with its grandiose inner courtyard and impressive pavilions.
Info
The Pawlatsche is a word taken from the Czech language and refers to a circumferential pergola in the inner courtyard of a building.

St. Stephans Square, Lugeck, Schönlaterngasse
Past Vienna's most famous landmark, St. Stephen's Cathedral, passages lead via Wollzeile to the so-called Lugeck. Find out what Lugeck means before we pass the old university and the Jesuit Church and follow the traces of a gruesome baselisk.
Info
A Baselisken is a mythical creature that was particularly ghastly to look at and supposedly a cross between a rooster, a snake and a toad.

Greek Quarter
The Griechenviertel is located in the north-eastern part of the old town and got its name from the Greek merchants who settled here from the 17th century onwards and were mainly involved in oriental trade.
Info
"Oh dear Augustin..." is a well-known Viennese folk song. You will find out what it is all about when we visit the Greek Quarter!
